Text Box: (More than ten years ago we published THE MIRACLE OF DAMASCUS in REUNION. The message, a command for reunification of the Church, remains not only unfulfilled but also apparently no closer to being accomplished. Instead, some jurisdictions of the Church seem to be abandoning their traditional Sacramental and Liturgical foundations and to be seeking common grounds with apostates and heretics. Those jurisdictions seem to forget there is no common ground with such, and such are most easily identified in these times because all of such embrace at least one of five positions: (1) abortion is permitted, (2) artificial contraceptives are permitted, (3) Sacramental Absolution is not necessary because . . . well a number of reasons amongst which the phrase, “I confess my sins directly to God so I do not need a Priest” is resonant, (4) The Eucharist, Holy Communion, is not Jesus but only represents Jesus, (5) Apostolic Succession - an ordained Priesthood which traces itself to the Apostles - is not necessary, anyone may receive “the calling”.

Therefore, this reprint as a reminder: Jesus does not want us to reunite with the devil, with Satan. He died to free us from Satan’s dominion. Therefore, do not seek to reunite with the apostates and heretics, but with those of Apostolic Succession and mainly valid dogma.

From the Orthodox perspective, there Text Box: may soon be only the Byzantine rites in communion with Rome with which there can be harmony. But with those who hold any of the five aforementioned positions, there can be NO UNION. - Ed.)
