Text Box: Virtually all the shingles on the chapel roof were torn off. The rain came in and damaged all of the Western rite vestments, some of the Eastern rite vestments, and some of the chalice veils. Some icons were damaged, as was the iconostat, carpets, and flooring. Vinyl siding was torn off of the exterior and may have to be completely replaced.

The rectory roof sustained damage, as did roof vents. Some siding was torn off, but not to the same extent as on the chapel. Sofet “siding” was also damaged and torn off, and will have to be completely replaced.

Insurance should cover all of these losses, but to date we have been unable to have a claims adjustor come to the property. In fact, we have been unable to Text Box: talk with a claims adjustor at all.

Communications antennas were also damaged.

We have no idea as to when we will be able to begin repairs because we do not have any idea as to when we will finally have a claims adjustor come out to inspect the damage.

If the flood insurance proceeds for Saint Mary Magdalene are received in a timely manner, Saint Mary Magdalene may loan Holy Innocents the money required to effect repairs sufficient to prevent further damage. If not, may have funds sufficient to at least repair the chapel roof - but first we have to find out how much that will cost and to do that we have to be able to finally have a roofing contractor come out and give us a price.

We received relics from Archbishop Victor for use in the antimins, and we thank him very much.

Production of the antimins themselves has been delayed by hurricane Katrina. The process requires our artwork be computer printed onto a clear film and a silk screen made from that film. This had been done prior to Katrina, but the clear film image was not the proper size. It had to be enlarged.

It was scheduled to be printed the week Katrina came ashore. The silk screen plant was not severely damaged by the storm, but the artist who provided the silk screen plant with the image on clear film, had operations in New Orleans near Text Box: Text Box: And this is the same portion of ground, after hurricane Katrina. Only the slab remains, with three floor tiles still on the floor where the bathroom was.
